General Info

Each train has reserved seats under VIP/Emergency quota. This seat is to be used by any person or VIP or Railway officials only in case of emergency.

To get a seat under the emergency quota, a letter of recommendation issued by a gazetted officer or a concerned VIP has to be submitted before the journey.

An RTI was filed with East Central Railway to obtain such data.

In which information was sought about the number of seats reserved for VIPs and to whom those seats were allotted in PNBE LTT Express which originates from Patna and whose destination is Mumbai.

The concerned CPIO gives the details about the reserved seats that 24 seats for Sleeper, 24 seats for 3rd AC and 14 seats for 2nd AC are reserved under VIP/emergency quota.

But on being asked, which people traveled on those seats between 09.12.2021 to 12.12.2021 and by which officer the letter of recommendation was given, Hon'ble CPIO refused to give this information citing the policy of Indian Railways.

As per the policy of Indian Railways, all records relating to issue of emergency quota are preserved for a minimum period of three months from the date of journey.
